Let Us Not Become Weary

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.  – Galatians 6:10

April 16, 2020

Each week I begin writing by praying. I ask God to reveal to me what he wants me to share and then I try to write something based on the scripture that comes to mind. This week didn’t start any differently, I just took it a step further by reading the passage associated with the verse and the context of the passage spoke volumes.

Read with me as I break down Galatians 6:1-10…

  1. Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted…. We have two different opportunities at Café Central, one is ministry, which is accomplished through serving meals and the other is missions, which is accomplished through coming along side someone and loving them through their struggles.
  2. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ…. We are to love one another as Christ loved us.
  3. If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves….. While serving at Café Central it is tempting to think it is about what we are doing, when in reality it is absolutely about what God is doing.
  4. Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, …We are one body with many parts and we will function effectively and efficiently if we stay focused on the action God has called each one of us to individually.
  5. for each one should carry their own load. …This part was very literal when I thought about the verse. This week we served over 900 lunches along with handing out over 400 boxes of food from the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. That’s quite a load!
  6. Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor. …Our instruction and direction comes from God therefore we will give our gratitude and praise to Him.
  7. Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows…. Let us continue to do the will of God, so that He will continue to bless this ministry.
  8. Whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life…. We are prayerful that the services we provide on a weekly basis will demonstrate to others the love and goodness of God as our savior and redeemer.

Finally…

  • Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up… This is actually the verse I first looked up. There is a weariness right now for those serving. The number of patrons in need continue to increase and the laborers are few. Please continue to pray for our ministry leaders, volunteers and community….

And…”as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.”

Until we “read” again…God Bless!

Stephannie and her husband Doug have been volunteering at Cafe Central for 6 years. They moved from Colorado to Milledgeville Georgia in 2015. That year during Sunday service, the announcement that Cafe Central needed extra help for their Thanksgiving service, brought them for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. They have now served weekly since January 2016. Doug is the volunteer coordinator and member of the Cafe Central Board. Stephannie just likes to talk to, and about, the “family” Cafe Central has become.
