So we’ve talked about Café Central, it’s origin, purpose and mission. I’ve explained some of our processes and procedures, introduced some of our volunteers who serve, shared some of our community partners and the way they contribute by donating food items and told you about some of the patrons that we aim to help. Now I’d like to tell you who makes this all possible…YOU!
Yes, you read correctly… it’s YOU!
Café Central is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We rely entirely on financial contributors to provide the funding for our ministry. Our local businesses and community members are an absolute blessing in this area. As we kick off our fundraising efforts for 2020, we are reaching out to people outside our community as well. I asked that you partner with us in prayer last week so that we would not only have spiritual support, but also in the hopes that God would put this ministry on your hearts and have you ask yourselves, even if we cannot volunteer or see the work of our hands, how we can help.
I told a story at the banquet a couple years ago about one of our patrons named Willie. One day Willie was trying to get Doug’s attention. When Doug got to his table he wanted to give him a quarter. Willie obviously didn’t have much so Doug said, “Oh, no Willie, you keep that”. Willie insisted that Doug take it and put in the offering at the door. You see, Willie had “decided in his heart” and gave “cheerfully”. He has since passed but his generosity is not forgotten.
Our fundraising goal for 2020 is $50,000! Here’s the break down:
400 plates @ $2.50 per plate is $1,000.00 per week
We serve 50 weeks each year (closed for Christmas and New Years)
Totaling $50,000!
Save the Date for our Annual Spring Banquet and Silent Auction. “Sowing Seeds of Kindness” April 9, 2020! We are currently selling tickets for this event: $75.00 per person or $500.00 per table (8 seats). You can get tickets or more information by leaving a comment on this blog. I will also be sharing more as the event gets closer along with other ways to financially support this ministry.

Stephannie Shelton
Stephannie and her husband Doug have been volunteering at Cafe Central for 6 years. They moved from Colorado to Milledgeville Georgia in 2015. That year during Sunday service, the announcement that Cafe Central needed extra help for their Thanksgiving service, brought them for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. They have now served weekly since January 2016. Doug is the volunteer coordinator and member of the Cafe Central Board. Stephannie just likes to talk to, and about, the “family” Cafe Central has become.
