Action Plan
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” -Philippians 4:6

Every ministry starts with someone seeing a need, getting an idea, formulating a plan and then acting upon that plan. The idea itself isn’t anything until it is put into action. Café Central started as just that; seeing a need, having an idea and then telling someone else to do something about it…hahaha! That’s usually how we think something will get done…Right? Ann approached her pastor, told him there were many hungry and homeless in Milledgeville and wondered what could be done. The answer her pastor gave was, “pray about it”. God chose Ann to see. Then, through the pastor, He commissioned her to go. With ministry though, you need people along side you to partner, participate and pray.
Partners are those that help your idea become a reality. They allow you use their resources to accomplish your goal. Whether it’s using a facility and equipment, or the resources donated by faithful contributors, partners play an essential role in any ministry. Participants become those that join with you physically in putting action to your plan. Volunteers, board members and other local ministries joining with you, help give an idea life. The one thing both partners and participants have in common though, is prayer.
Prayer is the first action in an idea. Café Central was an idea that, through prayer, became a reality. It opened its doors by praying to help those in need; and keeps the doors open with that same prayer. Prayer gives a plan strength, it shifts our thinking to God’s, and it may change our path or sustain us on the one we’re on. It allows us to be influencers and helps us realize we have needs that only God can meet. Through prayer we have hope and peace. We have the power and boldness to pass our faith along to others through intercession, joy and thanksgiving. Prayer is the foundation in which the “plan” of Café Central was formulated and the wings which has allowed it to soar.
As we begin a fundraising campaign in hopes of sustaining Café Central for all of 2020, please partner with us as participants in prayer as we “present our requests to God”.

Stephannie Shelton
Stephannie and her husband Doug have been volunteering at Cafe Central for 6 years. They moved from Colorado to Milledgeville Georgia in 2015. That year during Sunday service, the announcement that Cafe Central needed extra help for their Thanksgiving service, brought them for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. They have now served weekly since January 2016. Doug is the volunteer coordinator and member of the Cafe Central Board. Stephannie just likes to talk to, and about, the “family” Cafe Central has become.
