Perfect Vision

January 16, 2020

The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. – 1 Samuel 16:7

Here I go, jumping on the “2020” bandwagon! I guess it will only be the “year of vision” for a year so I’ll use it while I can…hahaha! The term “20/20 vision” is used to describe the sharpness and clarity of your vision. Contrary to common belief, having 20/20 vision does not mean you have perfect vision. It means you’re able to see distances clearly.  Other vision skills including peripheral awareness, depth perception, and color vision, contribute to your overall visual ability.

Have you ever climbed to the top of a hill or a mountain? At the bottom when you begin your hike, all you can see is the path ahead of you. As you climb, you might see a meadow, waterfall or pond, but when you reach the top you can see everything! You are seemingly seeing the ends of the earth! You have 20/20 vision. In contrast, God has PERFECT vision! He not only sees distance clearly, he sees everything around him. He sees the depth of our hearts and there is no color in his vision. He doesn’t see things from the bottom of the mountain, he always sees them from the top!

As we learn more about God and his direction for our lives, He changes the way we see. He helps us see ourselves and the world around us through his eyes. He makes us aware of people’s needs, helps us see their hearts and helps us not focus on outward appearance. This is the kind of vision Ann had as she imagined a way to help the hungry and the homeless. She was seeing Milledgeville from the top of the mountain; God was giving her perfect vision!

When you see with perfect vision – you can help, you can stand with us on the top of the mountain!

Until we “read” again …God Bless!

Stephannie and her husband Doug have been volunteering at Cafe Central for 6 years. They moved from Colorado to Milledgeville Georgia in 2015. That year during Sunday service, the announcement that Cafe Central needed extra help for their Thanksgiving service, brought them for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. They have now served weekly since January 2016. Doug is the volunteer coordinator and member of the Cafe Central Board. Stephannie just likes to talk to, and about, the “family” Cafe Central has become.
