More than a soup kitchen

January 8, 2020 “You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.” -Isaiah 25:4 There is so much more! “More than a soup kitchen” isn’t just the

What’s New?

January 2, 2020 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” -Revelation 21:5 All things! Isn’t it crazy to think that everything is new…always?!

Good news, that brings Great Joy!

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” -Luke 2:10-11

Merry Christmas from Cafe Central!

It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years! In October, 2009, Ann Bowen had a vision, a “calling” if you will. As she followed this “tug”, Cafe Central was born. A soup kitchen, answering the prayers of hungry residents in Milledgeville, GA.

Meals were originally prepared off-site in large crockpots and served in the fellowship hall of Church Central, located on Wilkinson Street.  Ann’s first service was 17 people. The following week doubled to 34 and the next 68. As the cafe grew, the building next door to Church Central was utilized to serve as many as 450 guests every Tuesday and meal preparation was being done onsite. The Freedom Church Family Life Center now hosts Cafe Central each Tuesday from 11:00-1:00, where anyone can come for a warm welcome and FREE hot meal.

Why do I want you to know the humble beginnings of this ministry, so that as you join with me while I share what I see through 2020, you will know the impact you can have through prayer, service and giving. I want to share the process, tell you about the program and most of all to introduce you to the people.

There is good news, that brings great joy!

Until we “read” again….God Bless!
